En Route Diaries: Japan 2025

En Route Diaries: Japan 2025

Our recent En Route adventure through Japan was nothing short of unforgettable. From the bustling streets of Tokyo to the tranquil gardens of Kyoto, every moment was filled with beauty, discovery, and something even more magical—connection. What began as a group of strangers meeting for the first time quickly (cherry) blossomed into something incredibly special: a sisterhood.

One of our first bonding moments took place at the Tsukiji Fish Market, where the group dove into Japan’s culinary culture, sampling fresh sashimi, mochi, and egg tamago side by side. It was more than a food tour—it was a shared experience that set the tone for the trip. Later, at the Meiji Shrine, there was a quiet stillness as we participated in a traditional purification ritual, a moment of spiritual grounding that brought us even closer.

Of course, Tokyo’s energy didn’t disappoint—laughs were shared as we zipped through the city dressed in character costumes during our go-kart tour. It was a bit cold during this experience as the wind was hitting our faces, but it was still just a memorable activity! At TeamLab Planets, we were completely immersed in dreamlike visuals, and it was beautiful to watch everyone react like kids again—gasping, dancing, and posing in glowing water rooms. My favorite was the garden room. As you stepped closer to the flowers hanging from the ceiling, they would move upward all while the most angelic music played in the background. In those mirrored installations, we didn’t just reflect light—we reflected the joy and wonder in each other!

As we traveled south to Kyoto by bullet train (yes, Mt. Fuji made an appearance ), the vibe shifted. There was peace in the air. We explored the streets of Higashiyama, participated in a serene tea ceremony, and dressed in traditional kimonos. It was a moment that felt deeply personal—like we were not just visiting Japan, but becoming part of its story. This was by far one of my favorite experiences while traveling...anywhere. We all mentioned how it healed the inner child in some of us, getting to dress up and dress and walk around like a princess. During this activity we were able to pick our own kimono, and there were endless florals, colors, and patterns to choose from. From there, we had our hair styled and everything felt so magical!

In Nara, we fed some...pretty feisty deer. Regardless of their attitude, they were so cute and it was definitely still possible to hang around them. We walked around the surrounding areas, viewed the large Buddha temple, shopped for handmade mochi, and ended the trip with an all you can eat wagyu farewell dinner.  By then, no one was a stranger. We sat around the table like old friends—even family. The conversations, the connections, the vulnerability—it was something I’ll never forget.

What touched me most was watching how these women showed up for each other. Whether it was offering to take someone’s photo, hyping each other up in kimonos, or walking side by side through ancient temples, they built bonds that will last long after the flights home.

This is what En Route is about. Yes, we travel the world. But more importantly, we create everlasting memories. I’m so honored to witness that magic again and again!

Here’s to more adventures, more sisterhood, and more moments that change your outlook on life.

I was very nervous going into this trip with a big group of girls. I was excited and nervous at he same time, but throughout the trip I felt like everyone was very easy going that it made it feel like I knew everybody for awhile. Bryanna and Brandon are the sweetest and the most funny human beings I’ve met that can be very good at hosting big traveling group. Loved that they made sure to include everyone in every activity and constantly kept asking how we were doing/feeling.
